Getting Started
How to start using Magica: initial setup, first vehicle and settings.
What is Magica and what is it for?
Magica is an iOS assistant that automatically tracks your trips, fuel or energy consumption, costs and vehicle maintenance — all on your phone, with no cloud. It works for gasoline, diesel and electric cars.
How do I set up Magica on first launch?
On first launch you only need three steps: add your vehicle, set the current odometer, and grant location, motion and notification permissions. Setup takes less than two minutes.
Magica walks you through these steps automatically:
- Add your vehicle
- Set the current odometer reading
- Grant the necessary permissions (location, motion and notifications)
Which permissions does Magica need?
Magica requires three permissions: Location (Always) for automatic background tracking, Motion to detect when you are in a car, and Notifications for maintenance reminders. All your data stays on your device.
In detail:
- Location (Always) — For automatic trip tracking, even in background
- Motion — To detect when you are in a car
- Notifications — To alert you about maintenance reminders and updates
How is the Magica interface organized?
The app is organized into four main tabs in the bottom bar: Dashboard, Statistics, Reports and Account. In the center of the bar sits the voice commands button to talk to Magica directly.
Each tab handles a specific area:
- Dashboard — Main panel with current vehicle info, trips, refueling, services and maps
- Statistics — Charts and analysis of consumption, costs, distances and emissions
- Reports — Trip and refueling summaries, data export
- Account — Profile management, backup, vehicles, badges and settings
- In the center you'll find the voice commands button
