How to export your data and back up the app.

In which formats can Magica export data?

Magica exports in five formats: CSV (Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers — with field selection), PDF (formatted report with charts and statistics), GPX (standard GPS tracks, single trip), KML (Google Earth, single trip) and Backup (complete copy).

Available formats:

  • CSV — To open in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. You can choose which fields to include
  • PDF — Formatted report with charts and statistics, ideal for sharing
  • GPX — Standard GPS track format (single trip export)
  • KML — Google Earth format for viewing routes (single trip export)
  • Backup — To export a complete backup

What backup options does Magica offer?

Magica offers two backup modes: automatic via iCloud (managed by iOS) or manual (you export the backup file whenever you want). Both make sure you never lose your data.

How do I enable automatic backup to iCloud?

Go to vehicle detail > "..." > Manage Backup and enable "Automatic Backup". From that moment the backup is saved automatically to iCloud — if you lose your device, you can restore everything on first launch.

The steps:

  1. Go to vehicle detail > "..." button > Manage Backup
  2. Enable "Automatic Backup"
  3. Backup is performed automatically to iCloud
  4. In case of device loss, you can restore everything
ℹ️The backup is managed by the operating system. In case of issues with iOS, insufficient space, or no internet, the backup may be compromised.

How do I make a manual backup of Magica?

Go to vehicle detail > "..." > Manage Backup, then tap "Export Backup" or "Run a backup now". The file is exported directly (you can save it anywhere) or pushed to iCloud.

The steps:

  1. Go to vehicle detail > "..." button > Manage Backup
  2. Tap "Export Backup" or "Run a backup now"
  3. The backup is exported directly or saved to iCloud

How do I restore a Magica backup?

To restore a backup go to vehicle detail > "..." > Manage Backup, tap "Import a backup" and pick the file to import. Magica will restore all vehicles, trips, refuelings, tags and settings.

The steps:

  1. Go to vehicle detail > "..." button > Manage Backup
  2. Tap "Import a backup" and choose the file to import

What is included in a Magica backup?

A Magica backup includes vehicles and their settings, all trips with GPS data, refuelings and charges, tags and notes, attached documents, app preferences, statistics and earned badges. A saved backup is always relative to the active vehicle.

Full backup contents:

  • All vehicles and their settings
  • All trips with GPS data
  • All refueling and charges
  • Tags, notes and attached documents
  • App preferences and settings
  • Statistics and earned badges
